The Strategic Plan of the Legacy XXI Institute

What do we do

  • As a 501c(3) sustainable-cultural-shift enterprise, we coach and train individuals and organizations to go beyond the process of serving needs and helping others. Our work is to transfer our experience and knowledge to alter the very persistence of the challenge itself.  We train enculturators® to shift the nature of the conditions within which their targeted challenges exist. As cultural change agents, enculturators seek to achieve what we call EPIC-SHIFTS®: Shifts that alter the interpretation of the surroundings and circumstances that influence culture and define “community.” These are public and personal shifts that create breakthroughs on the ground, in the community, and within corporations, social service organizations and individuals. These are integrity shifts that empower individuals currently operating in a state of co-dependency to re-access their integrity, dignity, respect and opportunity. These are contextualt shifts that alter the dominating external influences affecting current actions and behaviors and initiate the trend to a more empowering culture.
  • We consult and coach organizations, agencies and volunteers to achieve breakthroughs in their organizational direction so that “their” social challenges – such as homelessness, gang warfare, drug abuse, cultural clashes, and warring – can be altered rather than merely treated. The Legacy XXI Institute objective is to provide the means to individuals, groups and organizations to reverse the negative trend lines of ever increasing “challenges.” We offer the opportunity to co-create the beginning of a journey – a movement – that empowers a vision currently beyond the horizon of our thinking: to re-access our collective legacy for generating a sustainable environment of new possibilities and choices that enhance the potential of all persons and peoples.
  • We conduct on-going, model-building programs, directly or in partnership with other organizations that achieve sustainable culture shifts. Our results continue to expand our learning and documentation process for enhancing and refining our knowledge and experience and allow us to continually evolve our own models. We are all part of the co-creative process.

Legacy XXI Institute trains professionals, corporate leaders, social responsibility activists, social entrepreneurs, volunteers, community leaders, government officials, and non-profit board members, in acquiring the experience, skills and insights necessary to co-create cultural transformation.

Our experience has demonstrate that the means we are providing can alter conditions of resignation, hopelessness, despair, and choicelessness that are endemic in segments of our society. These are the same conditions in which we have created an institutionalized supply chain of co-dependency from governance down and through NGOs, social service practitioner communities and volunteer efforts. We contend that it is this dysfunctional linkage that poses the primary obstacle to resolving the most critical and persistent societal challenges of the XXI Century.

From time to time, individual heroes emerge who demonstrate the access to cut through the process, envision the goal, and work from that goal to achieve breakthroughs. However, in these challenging times, it is necessary to move beyond the occasional hero. Beyond heroism, enculturators and social entrepreneurs must move forward to exercise the leadership necessary to alter our course from co-dependency to co-creation.

The thrust of education and training for sustainable enculturators is not to improve or fix others per se; rather, it is to mobilize a movement to create a shift in the culture so that more of us are aware that we have the power to access re-newed possibilities and choices. Legacy XXI defines “cultural shift” as the altering of thecurrent interpreted set of circumstances and beliefs dominating group and individual actions and behaviors currently resulting in a sense of hopelessness, despair and co-dependency and to intentionally access a more empowering set of community influences leading to re-newed possibilities, choices and a spirit of co-creation.

It is well-known that culture influences individual and group behaviors. It is axiomatic that the “current culture” is always in flux. Legacy XXI’s intention is to work with enculturators, social entrepreneurs and other heroes to get ahead of the curve and influence the direction of the specific culture within which current challenges persist.
